Miller Soils puts biochar in the majority of our products. We make our own biochar from pine trees and other renewable and organic resources from the intermountain west to the west coast. All the biochar we produce comes from western forest sources and when managed properly it is an endless source of woody biomass to be turned into biochar. With partners like South Fork Wood Products (amongst others), we can put the foresters to work, reduce fire risk, and improve forest health. We use forest waste from fuel reduction projects that reduce fire risk, as well as logging debris that would just be left to burn and release CO2 into the atmosphere. Biochar is the backbone of our company, not only for it’s horticultural benefits, but also for the role it plays in larger natural systems. It embodies ecological balance and the idea that nothing is ‘waste’ - we carry that philosophy over to everything we do.

What else is in it and where does it come from?
